About

Fjord Base are Norway’s largest supply base, strategically located in Florø on the west coast of Norway. The Fjord Base Group has been involved in generating business activity in the local community since 1985 and developed Fjord Base to an important hub for industrial activities in the region. In total the industrial hub Fjord Base house 65 companies and is the workplace for about 650 persons. Fjord Base Group owns, operates and deliver comprehensive port infrastructure and logistics services. Our dedicated team of over 120 motivated employees ensures seamless operations with a strong commitment to safety, innovation, and sustainability. Through the ownership in HyFuel, Fjord Base Group has developed a project for production of green hydrogen. HyFuel will develop, own, and operate facilities for production of green hydrogen, and ensure utilisation of its byproduct’s oxygen and heat. HyFuel will supply green hydrogen to the maritime industry, mobility sectors, and other industries in the region. In addition, Fjord Base Group is part of the Ammonia Fuel Bunkering Network project and is working to realize a pilot bunkering barge for providing ammonia as fuel for the maritime sector, together with Yara Clean Ammonia and Azane Fuel Solutions. Recently, The Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Planning (DSB), gave its approval for the construction of the planned ammonia bunkering plant at Fjord Base in Florø. The permit marks a significant milestone in enabling ammonia as a safe and low-emission alternative to traditional marine fuels. Through the initiative Fjord Base Academy and the course My workplace, a collaboration with Vocational School Western Norway and funded by Norway's Directorate for Higher Education and Skills, aims to provide vocational education tailored to the business sector's needs.
