About

New Energy Coalition (NEC) is a continuously growing knowledge and network organisation with over 100 partners and members dedicated to making the world more sustainable by accelerating the energy transition. This transition requires collaboration among companies, knowledge institutions and governments to achieve technological breakthroughs, economic and social applications and shifts in thinking and behaviour. As a catalyst for change, New Energy Coalition brings together knowledge, policy and entrepreneurship. Based in the Northern Netherlands, NEC’s work primarily focuses on the provinces of Groningen, Friesland, Drenthe, and Noord-Holland, while also actively participating in international North Sea and European projects such as LIHYP, Hy2Market, and North Sea Energy.

Activities

NEC will serve as the regional coordinator for the Northern Netherlands, focusing on enhancing knowledge sharing and innovation in hydrogen skills across Europe. To achieve this, a range of activities will be implemented to connect and engage stakeholders, including educational institutions, research organizations, and businesses. This will involve creating both regional and international networks to bring together local participants in vocational education and training related to hydrogen. Furthermore, forums at regional and European levels will be organized to promote discussions and foster a sustainable ecosystem for knowledge exchange.

Collaborating with the Dutch Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association, NEC will explore partnership opportunities within the H2CoVE initiative. Additionally, together with other regional partners, a Course Development Council will be established to ensure ongoing interaction between the industrial sector and educational partners beyond the project's duration. Community-based learning sessions will also be introduced to engage individuals outside the workforce, such as former workers, immigrants, and other socially disadvantaged groups, thereby enhancing inclusivity along the hydrogen value chain.
