In Tyrol, the processes of cross-sectoral production, storage and application of green hydrogen are being investigated under real-life conditions with the aim of establishing a model for a largely autonomous regional green hydrogen economy. For example, a bakery and a butcher's shop are supplied with process heat from green hydrogen. Heavy duty mobility applications are switching to hydrogen operation.
The different activities result in increasing lack of hydrogen competence and therefore high demand for craftsmen, mechanics, technicians, assemblers, technicians, storage operators, and IT specialists in the region. To counteract, basics on hydrogen are needed all over the rapidly growing hydrogen-related industry.
In particular, the region needs the development and expansion of Train-the-Trainer programmes. More focus on attracting students to VET and HVET education in the field of the appearing and future technologies and therefore more effective career orientation events are needed to be organised jointly by different stakeholders in the region.
